Prep to migrate from Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack to Agentforce Nonprofit

ARTICLE | December 08, 2025

If you work at a nonprofit and use Salesforce, you have probably heard of Salesforce Agentforce Nonprofit, formerly Nonprofit Cloud. Agentforce Nonprofit is built using Salesforce’s core structure, meaning it’s not a package you install, such as Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP). Agentforce Nonprofit is designed specifically for nonprofits, offering advanced tools and capabilities to streamline operations, fundraising and program management.

Many organizations are planning to transition from NPSP to Agentforce Nonprofit to take advantage of enhanced integration opportunities and deeper industry-focused functionality—but successful migration requires thoughtful planning and oversight.

What is the difference between NPSP and Agentforce Nonprofit?

Agentforce Nonprofit offers advanced industry-specific features, including enhanced reporting, automation and workflow tools integrated into the core platform. However, nonprofits should keep in mind several high-level differences between NPSP and Agentforce Nonprofit.

First, NPSP is an add-on package to Salesforce and uses the traditional Salesforce data model, which often relies on the household account model. Agentforce Nonprofit, on the other hand, is designed natively within Salesforce’s Industries architecture and leverages person accounts by default. A person account combines information from both the account and the contact to create a comprehensive view of an individual.

Due to the shift in data models, NPSP users transitioning to Agentforce Nonprofit will need to revise workflows and processes as well. For example, the new data model affects how donor and constituent records are managed, including the process to create a record for an individual. Reporting will also be affected due to the data residing within different Salesforce objects.

Additionally, NPSP users may find differences in gift entries. Users may be accustomed to putting all solicitations, gifts and incoming money into Salesforce as opportunities in NPSP. The Agentforce Nonprofit fundraising data model splits the objects out into gift transactions (one-time donations), gift commitments (pledges or recurring donations), and opportunities (to manage cultivation and solicitation activity).

What can nonprofits do to prepare for a future migration?

It’s important to know that an Agentforce Nonprofit migration won’t result in an exact copy of NPSP. However, you can take steps to make the transition easier. These include:

  • Ensuring automations for relationships, affiliations, and creations and updates of opportunity primary contacts are set up for easy migration
  • Auditing picklists, record types and unused fields
  • Promoting data standardization by ensuring consistent data formatting
  • Creating flowcharts for key business processes to help outline your current workflows and prepare for the future

The takeaway

Agentforce Nonprofit will not be a clone of your NPSP configuration. However, by understanding the key differences, preparing your staff for workflow changes, and performing key tasks in your current Salesforce environment, your nonprofit can enable a smoother transition to Agentforce Nonprofit and better leverage Salesforce’s capabilities for your mission.
