Vasquez + Company LLP Managing Partner Gilbert R. Vasquez Elected to the Board of Directors of MALDEF

GLENDALE, California – Vasquez + Company LLP is pleased to announce that its Founder and Managing Partner, Gilbert R. Vasquez, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), the leading Latino legal civil rights organization in the United States.

Over the course of Mr. Vasquez’s career, he has served on more than 40 boards of directors spanning nonprofit, private, and public sectors. He founded the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) in 1972, which is now the largest Latino professional organization in the country with more than 90,000 members and 200 chapters nationwide. He served as the first Latino president of the California Board of Accountancy, which is responsible for regulating more than 100,000 CPAs statewide. He was a founding board member of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), and he serves as Chairman Emeritus of UnidosUS, the nation's largest Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization. Forbes named him to its America's Best-In-State CPAs list in both 2025 and 2026.

MALDEF was established in 1968 and is headquartered in Los Angeles, with regional offices across the country. The organization carries out its mission through litigation, advocacy, and community education, with a focus on education, employment, immigrants' rights, voting rights, and equal access to justice for all Latinos living in the United States.
